Bogen, "Konsistorialraad Jacob Christian Schmidth´s samtlige efterkommere" ved S. Otto Brenner: "Af dansk adel".
- From Knud Gether about Otte Knudsen: The country judge Jacob Bircherod writes that his father and mother died when he was 4 and 5 years old, so his older brother ..probably Rickert sent him in the Latin school in Odense.
He was sent as a young man to a merchant in Hamburg for his early training or as they called it ..in scientiis civilibus....then he went to Holland , where his brother Hans was lieutenant colonel and served in during the war with him. After this he sailed to Norway and became scribe with nobleman Ludvig Munk in Trondhjem.
Ludvig Munk was in charge of Norway , he married the 17 years old Ellen Marsvin, who's father was Rigsraad Jørgen Marsvin......(Ellen Marsvin owned Thurø) , Otto followed the family from Norway to Denmark and Ellen was only agreeable to the marriage if Ludvig Munk would build a castle where she threw down her glow (glove?)!
She was not hiding her interest in the 3 years older Otto, so her husband had for 3 months Otto jailed in the cellar of Odense Town hall, however Ellen arranged music for Otto every evening.
The big accident happened when her husband found Otto in her bedchamber, however she got out of that predicament by claiming that Otto was there to ask for her maid's hand in marriage..........so Otto now had to marry. In 1599 he married Birgitte who seem to have come from a good family. The crest, a black timber weapon in a silver shield seems to indicate she is of the Skjalm Bangs family.
Kirstine Munk was born on July 9 1598 born at Nørlund estate, he the 61 years old husband accepted the daughter as his after nine years without a child and covered her in her birth with his family shield with the 3 roses. There is very little doubt she is daughter of Otto.
He now after marrying started as merchant in Odense and became its wealthiest citizen, with a house also in Kerteminde like his Brother. He exported in 1616-1627 through the custom house in Aabenraa 4414 steers. In the old Odense documents one finds the exist passport for his ships travels in the Baltic sea, he also rented the vine cellar under the Town hall by paying 24 RD every Xmas eve.
In 1618 he bought from his older sister her estate in Overgade which had been built by Oluf Bager in 1580. His wife must have died in 1613 with whom he had 5 children, because in this year October 4 he declares at the town hall that want to settle his estate with his children and married the 2 nd time October 10.
He was Lord Mayor of Odense 1622-31 and was buried in Sct Knuds Church , his gravestone located ahead of the other noble family Ahlefeldt carried the name Seeblad
