NOTE:1 Aug 2004. RE: Research of Mike Schwing, Subject: "Helynn Carrier's Theory", posted on www.hypervigilance. com/ genlog/harrod-questions.html, 5 Jun 1998. After reading Mike's letter, [See under "Research" tab], I have decided to unlink James Harrod as a son of Thomas Harrod and Mary Noell until I can document that he really is their son, or as seems to be more likely, the son of Samuel Harrod and Jemima Sherewood. Note that James' and Elizabeth's first son is named Samuel and their first daughter is named Jemima!! [Note:I wrote to Mike Schwing about this controversy in about 2003, but he never answered; he may have a different email address.] Note that I have removed the middle name of "Noell" from James' entry.

BIRTH: «b»James Harrod of Kentucky«/b» by Mason, pp. 173, 184, 239. Some researchers say he is the son of Thomas Harrod and Mary Noell; Mary died at his birth or shortly thereafter and Thomas md 2)Hannah Ellsworth and had a number of children. Other researchers have him as a son of Samuel Harrod, b Eng. or Ire., d abt 1748, md Jemima Sherewood, b MD 1708, d abt 1788. No definite proof found as of Aug, 1993, as far as is known. But note that he names his first son Samuel (rather thanThomas) and his first dau Jemima; he names no son Thomas, but the second dau is Mary. See notes under Mary Noell. [«b»CONFLICT«/b»: The James Harrod who married Elizabeth Stewart is said to be born 1750-1754. However, he could not then be the son of Samuel who died abt 1748! Either James would be born before 1748 or Samuel died after 1750.] 3)He is listed as a son of Thomas Harrod (no wife's name given) in "The Ten Mile Country and Its Pioneer Families", from «i»Monogahela Valley«/i», p. 5010, in «i»Pennsylvania Retrospective Series,«/i» CD, Retrospect Publishing, Alexandria, VA, 2001.
