Christine af Sachsen (24. december 1461 i Thorgau - 8. december 1521 iOdense[1]) var dronning af Danmark 1482-1513. Hun var datter afkurfyrst Ernst af Sachsen og Elisabeth af Baye
rn.
I 1477 blev hun fæstet til Christian 1.s søn Hans, og de blev giftpå Københavns Slot 6. september 1478. Den 18. maj 1482 blev hunsammen med Hans kronet i Frue Kirke.
Da sve
nske bønder og adelsmænd i 1501 rejste sig mod unionskongenHans, blev Stockholm Slot, hvor dronning Christine opholdt sig,belejret. Slottet holdt stand indtil den 9. maj 1502, man måtteovergi
ve sig. Da var der af en besætning på 1000 mand kun 70tilbage, der alle var udmarvede af sult og sygdom. Hun blev taget tilfange af Sten Sture og efter lange forhandlinger blev hun løsladt io
ktober 1503.
Efter kong Hans' død i 1513 tog hun som enkedronning ophold påNæsbyhoved Slot ved Odense, der var hendes ejendom.
I Graabrødre Klosterkirke i Odense indrettede hun
det endnu bevaredegravminde, hvor både hun selv og kong Hans er afbildede. Under hendestilsyn skabte Claus Berg sin berømte altertavle, hvor der ligeledesfindes billeder af hele kongefamilien.
Hun blev efter sin død gravsati kirken i Franciskanerordenens nonnedragt.
Da gråbrødrekirken skulle nedrives, blev lig og mindesmærker i 1805flyttet til St. Knuds Kirke.

She was married to Hans, King of Denmark, Norway and Sweden on 6September 1478. She was Queen consort of Denmark and Norway from 1483to 1513 and of Sweden from 1497
to 1501.
She was the mother of Christian II, Franciscus, Knud and Elisabeth,who later married Joachim I Nestor, Elector of Brandenburg.
In 1497, her husband was made king of Sweden; in 149
9, Christina wascrowned queen of Sweden in Uppsala and in 1500, Queen Christina wasmade regent in Sweden during her husband's absence from this country.When a rebellion brokeout in Sweden against Denm
ark and the union in1501, Christina was besieged in the castle of Tre Kronor in Stockholm.She surrendered on 9 May 1502, after the Danish soldiers had beenreduced from 1,000 men to 70 by sickness and
starvation. She was takenprisoner by Sten Sture the Elder and held at Vadstena Abbey until1503, when she was released against ransom and returned to Denmark.
